1.
A thousand fates worth the suffering, unceasing. Facing god and walking backwards in to the mouth, the mouth of hell. A dull ache unending. Stomach turns inside out. Outside looking in. You can’t kill me in a way that matters. There was nothing there. Pulsing. Beating. Stomach turning inside out. Outside looking in.
2.
Gaining strength in silence. Growing in darkness. Spreading and blooming. In hiding. Replacement of oldest forms. Crumbling away.
3.
Living through motion. In reference. In negation. Hands clasped tight. Pull back the cloak. Hit the lights. Reveal the hole from a heart that never was. Always bound to the one still waiting. Led on. Repeating. Still rigid and bleeding.
4.
Each breath a sign in a forgotten code. A threadbare language of reflexes and postures. Familiar as a sickening stomach. Retreating. Day by day. Withdrawn. Eyes sunken in. Face collapsing on itself. Feeding and seeking out refuge amongst the rats. Victims of their own whims. Pull the air from my lungs. Seep into the cracks. Mending under cover of nightfall. Rendered motionless. Settling for sustenance. Content with suffocation. Ceasing representation. Torn apart by my own hand.
5.
Descending the staircase draped in white. Arms extend out in guidance. Pale cloth pulled taught against ones’ mouth. Gasps grow ragged. Sheathed in linen. Delicate to the touch. Hollowed out. Swallowing. Breaking as breath is drawn. Losing all permanence. Arms extend out in prayer. Fingers trace seams and holes. Hollowed out. Swallowing. Breaking as breath is drawn. Cracked and weathered. Soft to the touch. A smile forms. The curtain falls. See me when I hold you close. See me when I let you go.
